Guidelines for Musical Theatre Agreements

Mercury Musical Developments, The Writers' Guild of Great Britain and The Personal Managers' Association have just published Guidelines to Musical Theatre Agreements. This is the first document of its kind for the theatre industry and will be an essential reference source for all musical theatre writers, producers, managers and agents. The Guidelines contain comprehensive contractual and financial information on writers' agreements for all types of musical theatre commissions and productions.

"This is a huge step forward for musical theatre writers," commented writer Jenifer Toksvig. "We now have official guidelines for royalties and other legal and contractual aspects of our work, where previously we had to ask each other for advice based on our own experiences.

"We now have a standard from which to work, and since many musical theatre writers do not have professional representation, these guidelines offer us invaluable and solid support in a somewhat ethereal and unpredictable career."
