West End Live
West End Live, the second annual showcase of the best the West End has
to offer, will happen again this year in Leicester Square on 17th and
18th June. Among the attractions will be excerpts from Chicago,
Mamma Mia!, The Lion King, Guys And Dolls, Stomp,
The Producers, Footloose and Blue Man Group, together
with performances by, among others, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra,
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and Sadler's Wells. There will be displays
by Madame Tussauds, the Theatre Museum and the British Film Institute.
In addition there will be a multitude of entertainers and displays
outside and in marquees scattered around the Square. The event will
run from midday to 6.00pm.
Award Winning Bleak
House
The BBC's Bleak House has won three awards in the Broadcasting
Press Guild Awards. It was judged to be Best Drama Series, whilst Charles
Dance won Best Actor and Gillian Anderson Best Actress.
Guantanamo
on Capitol Hill
A reading of Guantanamo:
Honor Bound To Defend Freedom, by Victoria Brittain and Gillian
Slovo and directed by Nicolas Kent and Sacha Wares and originally prduced
at the Tricycle, Kilburn, will be given on Capitol Hill in Washington
DC, in the Rayburn Office Building, The House of Congress, on 6th April.
The reading is presented by UK charity Reprieve and the American Center
for Constitutional Rights.
Gitanjali S. Gutierrez, an attorney with the Center of Constitutional
Rights, said, "I hope many members of Congress take the time to
attend this event and see exactly what the policies of the Bush Administration
mean to the men who are still being held there."
Extending
Embers (Duke of York's)
has extended by four weeks to 24th June and Whistle
Down the Wind has extended by two months to 12th August.
