More BITE Shows Announced
Robert Lepage's The Far Side Of The Moon, last seen at
the National Theatre, will play at the Barbican as part of BITE:03 from
16th to 25th October. Ridiculusmus will also return to the Barbican
in October when they bring their new show Ideas Men to the Barbican
Pit from 30th September to 25th October.
New Scott Fitzgerald
Musical
A new musical about F Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda is to open
at the Yvonne Arnaud in Guildford next month. Called The Beautiful
and the Damned, it will run from 16th to 28th June and it is hoped
it will then transfer to the West End. With music and lyrics by Roger
Cook and Les Reed, the book is by Kit Hesketh Harvey with additional
material by Phil Willmott, who will direct. The show stars John Barrowman
and Helen Anker, and in the cast are Patti Boulaye, David Burt, Jo Gibb,
Sarah Lark and Jane Lucas.
NT £10 Season
Sponsorship
The National Theatre's £10 season in the Olivier will be sponsored
by Travelex, the world's largest foreign exchange specialist. The Travelex
£10 Season will run from from May to November. The sponsorship,
which runs for three years and is worth £1m, will allow the theatre
to see 150,000 tickets - two thirds of its capacity for the season -
at £10. The rest will be sold at £25.
SA Olivier Winner Returns
Kat and the Kings, the South African musical which won Best New
Musical in the 1999 Olivier Awards (where the whole cast won the Best
Actor award), is to return at Christmas to the Tricycle, where it premiered
in 1997.
New Play by Mamma
Mia! Writer
Little Baby Nothing, a new play by Catherine Johnson who wrote
the hit musical Mamma Mia!, is to open at the Bush Theatre on
23rd May (previews from 21st) and run until 21st June. Directed by Mke
Bradwell, the new play was commissioned by the Bush and is Johnson's
first new play since Mamma Mia! She is a former writer-in-residence
at the Bush.
Extending, Opening
and Closing
- Sondheim's Pacific Overtures (Donmar Warehouse) has extended
by two weeks to 6th September.
- Fame (Aldwych) is now booking to 31st January, 2004.
- My Fair Lady (Theatre Royal Drury Lane) will close on 30th
August.
- Anything Goes will open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in
September.
- The Rat Pack will close on 24th May at the Theatre Royal
Haymarket, and transfer to the Strand on 26th June.
