Elvis Is Coming to the West End
Jailhouse Rock, the classic 1957 Elvis Presley film, hits the West End in April next year, when it opens at the Piccadilly Theatre on 19th (previews from 26th March). Starring Mario Kombou as Vince, the show has been adapted for the stage by Alan Janes and Rob Bettinson who were responsible for Buddy.

Carry On Britney?
Britney Spears may be starring in a new Carry On film, according to Channel 4. It is thought she may be joined in the film by Burt Reynolds, who will play private eye I P Freely. She will, it is said, play his daughter.

Evans and Gambon in Endgame
Comedian Lee Evans and Michael Gambon will star in a new production of Beckett's Endgame in the West End in the spring of 2004, according to the Daily Mail.

Hall to Revive Godot?
Sir Peter Hall is reported to be considering a revival of Beckett's Waiting for Godot, for which he originally directed the London premiere.

Shockheaded Peter Revival
Hammersmith's Lyric Theatre is to revive the Olivier Award-winning Shockheaded Peter next year. The production is planned to run from the 8th to 24th April.

Newcomer to Star as RSC Juliet
Newcomer to the stage, Sian Brooke, who just graduated from RADA last year, is to star as Juliet in Peter Gill's production of Romeo and Juliet in the RSC's season in 2004. She will play opposite Matthew Rhys. She will also play the lead in Poor Beck (a new play by Joanna Laurens), also at the RSC. Brooke has already appeared in Zeffirelli's production of Absolutely (Perhaps).

A Weapons Inspector Calls
Justin Butcher's follow-up to his The Madness of George Dubya - A Weapons Inspector Calls, based on the Priestley play, will open at Theatro Technis, Islington, on 11th December (previews from 9th) and runs until 10th January.

Extending
See You Next Tuesday (Alberry) has extended by two weeks to 25th January, and Stomp (Vaudeville) by four months to 30th May. Dale Teater Kompani's production of Ibsen's Rosmersholm at the Rosemary Branch Theatre in Islington extends to 13th December.
