is due to open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 9th November (previews

Six Plays in 24 Hours
Saturday evening 5th June sees the start of a very unusual theatre event:
six writers, six directors and up to 24 actors will meet at the Old
Vic to create six plays - from the first idea to final performance -
in 24 hours. Each participant will bring a costume and a prop to get
the ideas flowing and they will work for the full 24 hours, culminating
in a gala performance (tickets priced from £50 to £250)
at 7.30 on the evening of Sunday 6th June. The money raised will go
to the Old Vic's development fund New Voices.
Among the actors who have agreed to take part - including, of course,
Kevin Spacey, the theatre's new artistic director - are Penelope Wilton,
Alex Jennings, Rosamund Pike, Ray Winstone, Emilia Fox, Paul Nicholls,
Catherine McCormack, Meera Syal, Neil Pearson, Jared Harris, Marianne
Jean-Baptiste and Sophie Okenodo. Two of the writers who will be involved
are Kwame Kwei-Armah and Catherine Johnson.
Calendar Girls -
The Musical?
Makers of the film Calendar Girls, for which Helen Mirren was
nominated for a Golden Globe, have said that they are in the early stages
of discussions about turning the film, which is proving popular not
just in the UK but across the world, into a stage musical.
A pokeswoman for the distributors Buena Vista said, ""If
you look at The Full Monty or Billy Elliot, both of those
took three or four years to adapt from screen to stage, and Calendar
Girls only came out last year. But it is certainly something that
we are discussing."
Hall to Direct The
Rivals at the Haymarket
Sir Peter Hall is to direct a production of Sheridan's The Rivals
at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in April next year. No further details
have been announced but the rumour is that the cast will be "star-studded".
Ringwald Will Replace
Hannigan
Molly Ringwald is to take over as Sally in When
Harry Met Sally at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 1st June,
replacing Alyson Hannigan. Hannigan's co-star Luke Perry will also be
leaving but his replacement is yet to be announced. Ringwald, best known
for films The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, was one
of the so-called Hollywood Bratpack.
The show's scheduling has also changed: the midweek matinee and Monday
evening performance have been replaced by a 5.30 matinee and 8.30 performance
on Fridays and a 5.00 matinee and 8.30 performance on Saturdays.
Donmar
Henry IV to Tour
The Donmar Warehouse production of Pirandello's Henry
IV will go on tour when it ends its London run on 26th June.
Dates announced so far are the Lowry Salford (29th June - 3rd July),
Bristol Old Vic (5th - 10th July) and the Liverpool Everyman (7th -
13th July).
