The Permanent Way to Tour before London
The production of David Hare's The Permanent Way, due at the RNT Cottesloe from 6th Jauary to 1st May, will premiere at the Theatre Royal, York, on 13th November. It will then tour to Birmingham, Exeter, Bath, Newcastle, Lincoln, Cornwall, Hatfield, Lees, Oxford and Liverpool. Directed by Out of Joint artistic director Max Stafford-Clark and designed by William Dudley, the play stars Kika Markham.

Berkoff Is Satan
Steven Berkoff will play Satan to Greg Hicks' Jesus in his own Messiah - Scenes from a Crucifixion at the Old Vic from 2nd December (previews from 25th November).

RSC All's Well for Gielgud
The Royal Shakespeare Company production of All's Well That Ends Well, starring Judi Dench, will transfer from the Swan at Stratford to London's Gielgud Theatre from 18th February 2004, running until 24th April.

Soho and Liverpool Join Up
London's Soho Theatre and Liverpool's Everyman and Playhouse are to join up for the Soho's fourth Writers' Festival (27th October to 15th November). The Liverpool theatres will bring three local plays to the London venue in an attempt to publicise the worth of new writing in the North West.

As part of the Festival - full details of which will be published soon - four national newspaper theatre critics will join with the Soho's literary team.

Among other featrures of the festival will be workshops with Frantic Assembly, Theatre and Beyond, Yellow Earth and Amused Moose Comedy.

Matthews Show Gets West End Premiere
Over My Shoulder, the musical about Jessie Matthews which had successful runs at the Jermyn Street Theatre and the Mill at Sonning, is to have its West End premiere later this month at Wyndham's Theatre from 27th October to 8th November. The part of Jessie Matthews will be played by Anne Rogers.

A Revival and a Premiere at the SJT
The autumn/winter season at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre features both a revival and a premiere. It opens with a revival of Ayckbourn's 1981 play Way Upstream, which is set on a boat and requires the stage to be flooded, which is followed by the world premiere of Ayckbourn's 65th play, My Sister Sadie.

Way Upstream runs from 17th October to 15th November, and My Sister Sadie plays over Christmas, from 2nd December to 3rd January.

Theatre Museum Celebrates Coward
The Theatre Museum in Covent Garden will celebrate Noël Coward next month with a four-day event which includes a study day on his plays, featuring directopr Christopher Luscombe (2nd November), a lecture by New Yorker columnist John Lahr followed by reminiscences from Sir John Mills (9th November), and a revue by Dick Vosburgh (16th and 18th November).

Beckett Prize Winner at Riverside
The winner of the first Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award, worth £30,000), Cue Deadly by Nicholas Blincoe will run from 19th November to 6th December at the Riverside Studios. It will star Daniela Nardini.

Applications for the second annual award are currently being sought. Details of how to apply are on the Trust's website at http://www.osbttrust.com/submission.htm.

Extending
The RNT production of Cole Porter's Anything Goes, which recently transferred to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, has extended by three and a half months to 1st May, 2004.

The Old Vic/Venturport production of Romeo and Juliet at the Old Vic has extended by two weeks to 8th November.
