The Theatre Royal Haymarket

Fifteen Injured at Haymarket
Fifteen audience members were injured at the Theatre Royal Haymarket last night (Saturday 15th May) when plaster fell into the auditorium when a chandelier came loose from the ceiling and fell four feet before being held by its safety chain. It is not certain whether the cause was the chandelier falling or whether it fell because plaster became dislodged.

Fifteen people were treated at the scene for minor injuries and the theatre was evacuated. According to a PA report, actor Luke Perry, who is performing in When Harry Met Sally at the theatre, leapt off the stage to assist in the evcuation.

An announcement will be made tomorrow regarding future performances. Fire crews made the ceiling safe and repairs were being carried out today (Sunday). Health and Safety inspectors will vsiit the theatre early in the week.
