Harman to Replace McGregor
EastEnders star Nigel Harman will take over from Ewan McGregor
as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre,
when McGregor leaves the cast on 3rd December. Also joining the cast
will be a former soap star, Coronation Street's Sarah Lancashire,
who takes over from Jane Krakowski as Miss Adelaide.
Although best known for EastEnders, Harman has considerable
experience of music theatre, having appeared in Mamma Mia!, Damn
Yankees, Tommy and Privates on Parade (the Michael
Grandage production).
Once in a Lifetime
Casting
The first casting has been announced for Edward Hall's production of
George S Kaufman and Moss Hart's Once in a Lifetime which opens
at the RNT Olivier on 15th December (previews from 5th). Announced so
far are David Suchet, Victoria Hamilton, Adrian Scarborough, Caroline
Sheen, Marcia Warren, Issy van Randwyck and Jonathan McGuinness, with
more to come.
The production is currently booking to 1st February, 2006.
The God of Hell
Casting
Casting has been announced for the European premiere of Sam Shepard's
The God of Hell, directed by Kathy Burke, which opens at the
Donmar Warehouse on 26th October (previews from 20th), running to 3rd
December. In the cast are Ewen Bremner, Ben Daniels, Stuart McQuarrie
and Lesley Sharp.
The Kingfisher
on Tour
Rosemary Leach, Francis Matthews and Michael Stroud are to tour in a
new production of William Douglas Home's comedy The Kingfisher.
The production opens at the Colchester Mercury on 11th October and goes
on to Coventry, Crawley, Richmond, Malvern and Poole, where it closes
on 26th November.
Wonder Woman in Chicago
The star of the television series Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter,
is to join the West End cast of Chicago as Mama Morton. She takes
over at the Adelphi on 26th September and will play until 22nd November.
She began her career as the 1972 Miss World USA, before playing Wonder
Woman in all three series between 1975 and 1979. Since then, she has
worked almost continually in TV and film, most recently appearing in
the new film version of The Dukes of Hazzard.
Chicago will celebrate eight years in the West End on 18th November.
Lennon Musical to Close
Lennon the Musical, currently playing on Broadway, is to close
on 24th September after just 49 performances. It was savaged by the
New York critics and recently has been playing to 40% houses.
