Garrett Retuns to ENO
Lesley Garrett will reprise her role as Yum-Yum in the revival of Jonathan
Millers production of The Mikado for English National Opera
at the Coliseum for its last two perfromances on 28th February and 3rd
March. She will replace Sarah Tynan, performing alongside Anne Marie
Gibbons as Pitti-Sing and Fiona Canfield as Peep-Bo.
Garrett created the role in the original production twenty years ago.
This is the eleventh revival.
In other changes, Eric Roberts will take over from Richard Suart as
Ko-Ko on 24th, 25th and 28th February and 3rd March, and Murray Hipkin
will replace Simon Lee as conductor.
Eleven Weeks of One
Night Stands
Sophie Tucker's One Night
Stand, which played at the New End Theatre in December and January,
is to return to London later this year, with a seven-week run at the
King's Head, followed by four weeks Sound Theatre from 23rd May.
The big lady will again be played by Sue Kelvin but Michael Roulston
will play the part of Ted Shapiro, replacing Russell Churney.
Written by Chris Burgess, it is directed by Susie McKenna, with musical
supervision by Mark Warman, design by Lotte Collett and costumes by
David Light.
The Cuckoo's Nest
Comes Back
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is to return to the West End
next month. It begins previews on 21st March at the Garrick (booking
until 3rd June). Christian Slater again stars and we will be joined
by Alex Kingston as Nurse Ratched.
Footloose
Dances Back to the West End
The touring production of Footloose - The Musical will open at
the Novello Theatre on 12th April (previews from 8th). It is booking
initially to 9th September.
