Becket to Close
Early
Frederic and Stephen Raphael's translation of Anoulh's Becket
at the Haymarket is to close on 11th December. It was originally booking
to 19th February. Smaller than expected ticket sales are given as the
reason for the early closure.
Cy Coleman Dies
Cy Coleman, composer of hit Broadway musicals such as Sweet Charity,
City of Angels, On the Twentieth Century and Barnum,
has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 75.
Many of his songs - Witchcraft, If My Friends Could See Me
Now and Big Spender, for example - are considered to be classics.
Out of Joint Bring
Macbeth to Wilton's
Out of Joint's African-inspired Macbeth will be at Wilton's Music
Hall from 6th January to 5th February. A semi-promenade production,
it has just finished a two-month UK tour.
Tickets will be sold in what director Max Stafford-Clark calls an airline-style
booking system. The earlier you book, the cheaper the seats. Earliest
bookings get seats at £10, and then prices rise to £20,
£25 and £30.
Jerry Springer
Follow-Up
In an interview in the Daily Telegraph, Stewart Lee revealed that the
next project on which he is working with Richard Thomas, his Jerry
Springer the Opera co-writer, will be about a night out at a comedy
club. Entitled The Ha-Ha Hole, it will premiere - in German -
at the Hanover Schauspielhaus in January.
Pasquale to Star in
Cooney London Premiere
Joe Pasquale is to star in the London premiere of Ray Cooney's Tom,
Dick and Harry, which is due to open in the West End (theatre to
be announced) in March 2005. Pasquale starred in the first production
at the Theatre Royal Windsor in October 2003. he will be joined in the
cast by Coronation Street's Kevin Kennedy, Louise Jameson and
Jeffrey Holland.
Extending
The following have extended their booking periods:

- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (London Palladium) to 4th September,
