Saxon to Play Springer
Rolf Saxon (Saving Private Ryan, Mission: Impossible)
is to play Jerry Springer in the forthcoming tour of Jerry Springer
the Opera, alongside some of the original cast, including Valda
Aviks (Zandra/Mary), Wills Morgan (Montel/Jesus) and Benjamin Lake (Dwight/God).
The tour opens at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, on 23rd January and
then goes on to Birmingham, York, Leicester, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester,
Oxford, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Norwich, Bristol,
Bradford, Southend, Liverpool, Cardiff, Nottingham, Croydon and Brighton.

Blacking Iago
The London Shakespeare Workout and the LSW Prison Project is to present
Blacking Iago, a production of Shakespeare's Othello focusing
on inter-racial relations, in London at the Intermission Theatre, Knightsbridge
prior to a national tour in association with UK Arts International.
The production will feature a mix of professional performers and trained
ex-offenders, as well as a wholly original score for piano, organ and
cello by Tim Williams, LSW's Musical Director.
Fabian Spencer play Iago and Darren Raymond Othello, both ex-offenders
who have become professional actors after training with teachers such
as Cicely Berry, Janet Suzman, Mark Rylance and Philip Voss.
The production is on 31st Jan, 1st, 4th, 7th and 8th February atb the
Intermission Theatre, St. Saviour's Church, Walton Place, Knightsbridge,
SW3 1SA, and will then tour to Portsmouth, Isle of Man, Forest of Dean,
Sheffield, Lincoln, Alnwick, Leicester, Preston, Stourbridge and Doncaster.

Wade Returns to Soho
Laura Wade's lastest play, Other Hands, will premiere at the
Soho Theatre next month on 17th February (previews from 15th and running
until to 11th March). Anna Maxwell Martin and Richard Harrington star
and 2003 James Menzies-Kitchin Young Directors Award winner Bijan
Sheibani directs.
This will be Wade's third production in London in a year. Colder
Than Here opened at the Soho last February and was followed in weeks
by Breathing Corpses at the Royal Court.
X Factor
Finalist Is Stevie Wonder
17-year old James Bellamy, who just failed to make the final four in
the ITV programme The X Factor, has been cast as Stevie Wonder
in Dancing in the Streets.
Bellamy, who is still at college, has already appeared in Exorcist:
The Beginning, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,
the BBC TV series Patrick's Planet, seven episodes of Murphy's
Law, EastEnders, The Bill and Extras.
Dancing in the Streets is at the Cambridge Theatre where it
is currently booking to 22nd April.
Friedman Takes Time
Out
Maria Friedman is taking a six-week break from the Broadway production
of The Woman in White for treatment for breast cancer. She will
be replaced from 14th February to 26th March by Judy Kuhn.
Extending
The Queen musical We Will Rock You (Dominion) has extended its
booking period to 7th October.
