Coliseum Reopens, but without Nixon
The London Coliseum, home of English National Opera, reopened on 21st February, a fortnight later than planned and without the planned revival of Nixon in China. Instead the first production will be The Rhinegold, which will be followed by The Valkyrie in May, Siegfried in November and Twilight of the Gods in spring 2005. While the theatre was being refurbished, ENO has been performing at the Barbican.

Whistling Psyche to Premiere at Almeida
The Almeida is to premiere Sebastian Barry's new play Whistling Psyche, about a meeting between Florence Nightingale and Dr Barry, in May. Directed by Robert Delamere, it will open on 12th May, previewing from 7th.

The Theatre has also announced its Almeida Opera season, which will run from 1st to 18th July. In the programme are the London premiere of Harrison Birtwhistle’s The IO Passion, Man And Boy: Dada by Michael Nyman, another London premiere, and the world premiere of a new song cycle by John Woolrich, Almeida Opera’s Concert Director.

Crimp Premiere at Young Vic
Martin Crimp's latest play, Cruel and Tender, is to premiere at the Young Vic in May. Based on Sophocles' Trachiniae, the new play, which stars Kerry Fox, opens on 13th May (previews from 5th).

The Mousetrap Extends
The world's longest running play, The Mousetrap (St Martin's Theatre), has extended to 27th November.
