Chitty to Close
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is to close on 4th september, after a three and a half year run at the London Palladium. Jason Donovan returns to play Caractacus Potts when Brian Conley leaves on 18th June. The cast for the final months will also include Tony Adams, Christopher Biggins and Jo Gibb.

A Broadway production opened on 28th April this year and has already been nominated for five Tonys. In December the show begins a national tour, opening at the Sunderland Empire on 9th December.

Annis in New Lenkiewicz Play
Francesca Annis is to star in Rebecca Lenkiewicz' new play The Shoreditch Madonna at the Soho Theatre. Running from 6th July to 6th August, the play is a mdoern story of love and loss set against the underground art world of London's East End. A derelict space. Three urban cowboys. Two jaded bohemians. One woman, alone, in pain. Their lives collide and in an attempt to connect with each other, their conflicts unfold.

Rebecca Lenkiewicz was part of Soho Theatre's Writers' Attachment Programme in 2004. Her first play, Soho - A Tale of Table Dancers won a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000 and opened the Arcola Theatre. Her second, The Night Season, had a critically acclaimed five month run at the National Theatre last year. She won the Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright 2004 and was nominated for both the Susan Smith Blackburn Award and The Charles Wintour Award for Best New Writing (Evening Standard Awards 2004).

Open Air Casting
The Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park has announced the casting for its summer season, which runs from 30th May to 10th September.

In Twelfth Night Desmond Barrit plays Sir Toby Belch, James Loye Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Mariah Gale Viola, Sirine Saba Olivia, Daniel Flynn Orsino and Martin Jarvis Malvolio. In the other Shakespare production, Cymbeline, Julian Curry plays the lead, while Imogen is played by Emma Pallant and Postumus by Daniel Flynn. Harriet Thorpe is the Queen.

In HMS Pinafore Lesley Nicol is Little Buttercup, Simon Thomas plays Ralph Rackstraw and Desmond Barritt Sir Joseph, with Gary Wilmot as Dick Deadeye and Hat Gowler as Captain Corcoran.

Full casting for The Wind in the Willows has not yet been announced, but will include Jamie Beamish as Toad, Julian Curry as Badger and Simon McCoy as Ratty.

The Far Pavilions - Performance Changes
The Far Pavilions, the musical version of M M Kaye's novel at the Shaftesbury Theatre, will stop Sunday performances and replace them with performances on Mondays from 13th June.
