Casting News
Ruth Gemmell joins John Hannah and Paul Hilton and some of the original
Australian cast in Andrew Upton's Riflemind which will play at
the Trafalgar Studios from 18th September (previews from 15th to 3rd
January, 2009.
Rosamund Pike joins Judi Dench in Madame de Sade, the Donmar
Warehouse production at Wyndham's in March next year.
We Will Rock You
on Tour
The delayed national tour of the Queen musical We Will Rock You
is now to go ahead. It will open at the Palace in Manchester on 20th
March 2009 and will run until 6th June, after which it will go on to
the Sunderland Empire (8th June, Birmingham Hippodrome (1st July), Bristol
Hippodrome (14th Sepember) and Edinburgh Playhouse (2nd November). The
West End production at the Dominion, now in its seventh year, will continue.
Marguerite
to Close Early
The musical Marguerite
(Theatre Royal, Haymaket) is to close on 13th September although it
has been booking until 1st November. Writers and producers Alain Boublil
and Claude-Michel Schonberg said, "Despite high praise from audience
members, critically acclaimed performances and the release of the much-anticipated
cast recording, we have made the difficult decision to close the show
in London a few weeks earlier than originally planned. Both the knock-on
effect of the current economic climate, as well as disappointing ticket
sales throughout the summer months, have contributed to our decision
to close early."
It will be replaced by David Joss Buckley's Girl With a Pearl Earring,
which is currently playing at the Arts Theatre, Cambridge. It will open
at the Haymarket on 29th September and run until 1st November. Girl
With a Pearl Earring is directed by Joe Dowling and stars Adrian
Dunbar and Kimberley Nixon.
Woman
Extends
The Woman in Black (Fortune Theatre) has extended its booking
period to 25th July, 2009.
