Movin' Out Moves
in Quickly
Movin' Out, the Billy Joel/Twyla Tharp dance musical, which was
due to open at the Victoria Palace on 18th April, will now open on 10th.
Previews will begin, as previously planned, on 28th March and the show
will run until 17th July before setting off on a European tour.
The reason given for the earlier opening is that five of the six principals
have already appeared in US productions so there is no need for the
longer preview period.
Dirty Dancing
to Replace Fame
The long-running musical Fame is to end its run at the Aldwych
on 29th April. It will be replaced, at the end of September, by a stage
version of the 1987 hit film Dirty Dancing. Eleanor Bergstein,
who wrote the screenplay, provides the libretto for the musical which
premiered in Australia.
There will be an open audition for dancers in April, said producer
Kevin Jacobsen.
Fame has been running in the West End for eleven years.
