Starr Returns to the National
Nick Starr is to succeed Genista McIntosh as Executive Director of the Royal National Theatre. He first joined the RNT in 1987 as a press officer, and then became Assistant Producer and then Head of Planning. Since then, he has been at the Almeida.

Two New Productions for RNT
Vincent in Brixton and The Bacchai are to go into rep at the National in May. Vincent is a new play by Nicholas Wright and will be directed by Richard Eyre. It opens in the Cottesloe on 1st May (previews from 24th April). Euripides's Bacchai is in a new version by Colin Teevan with music by Harrison Birtwhistle. Directed by Sir Peter Hall, it opens in the Olivier on 17th May (previews from 8th).

Rose Rage in June
Rose Rage, a new two-part adaptation of the three parts of Shakespeare's Henry VI, adpated and directed by Edward Hall, opens at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, on 16th June (previews from 12th).

My One and Only Preview Cancelled
The first preview (8th February) of the Gershwin musical My One and Only (Piccadilly) has been cancelled.

Youth Cast Announced
The cast of Kenneth Lonergan's This is Our Youth, which opens at the Garrick in March, has been announced. It will star Jake Gyllenhaal, Anna Paquin and Hayden Christensen, who is to play Anaking Skywalker (the future Darth Vader) in the new Star Wars trilogy. Youth, which is Lonergan's first play, was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Play in 1996.

Sunset Tour Extends
The national tour of Sunset Boulevard has extended and will now play in an additional seven cities: Belfast, Birmingham, Canterbury, Liverpool, Bristol, Glasgow and Manchester. The tour is due to finish on 19th October.

More Queen Musical Cast Details
More details have been announced of the casting for We Will Rock You, the musical based on the songs of Queen. Joining Nigel Planer will be Sharon D. Clarke, Alexander Hanson, Kerry Ellis (second understudy to Martine McCutcheon in My Fair Lady), Tony Vincent (from the US), Andrew Derbyshire (a contestant on ITV's "Pop Idols") and Hannah Jane Fox (a newcomer).

Bible Goes on Tour
The Reduced Shakespeare Company's The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Unabridged) is to tour to almost eighty venues across the country before July.

Gill Play Extends
Peter Gill's play The York Realist has extended its run by a week. It will now end on 9th February.
