Paradise To Be Lost
Twice in 2004
There will be two versions of Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost
on UK stages in 2004 and both versions will open on the same night.
At Northampton's Royal the stage version will be by poet Ben Power,
directed by Rupert Goold. It runs until 14th February.
A version at Bristol Old Vic, a version directed and adapted by David
Farr (in association with the National Theatre) will run until 21st
February. Both open on 30th January.
Although this is the first staging of the story of "Man's first
disobedience and the fruit of that forbidden tree which brought death
into the world and all our owe", it is not the first performance.
Guthrie productions did a one-man staged reading of Books I and II at
the Brighton, Buxton and Edinburgh Fringes in 2003.
