Bridewell Celebrates with Passion
London's Bridewell Theatre is to celebrate its tenth anniversary with a revival of Sondheim's Tony Award-winning (1994: Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book) Passion, which will run from 9th March to 3rd April (previews from 4th March).

The show had its West End premiere in 1996 when it starred Maria Friedman, Michael Ball and Helen Hobson. The Bridewell revival will feature Clare Burt, Mark Carroll and Kate Arneil.

Zimmerman Joins Dreyfuss and Evans in Producers
Leigh Zimmerman is to join Richard Dreyfuss and Lee Evans in the cast of The Producers when it opens at the Theatre Royal, Drury lane, on 9th November. She will play Ulla, the secretary. Zimmerman starred in Contact in the West End.

New Cast for Chitty
A new cast will take over in the West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on 16th March. Gary Wilmot will play Caractacus Potts, Tony Adams Grandpa, Scarlett Strallen Truly Scrumptious, Christopher Biggins Baron Bomburst, Louise Gold Baroness Bomburst and Lionel Blair The Child Catcher.

It was also announced last week that the musical will defnitely be making its way to Broadway, probably, according to producer Michael Rose, in Spring 2005.

Eckhart Joins Stiles for Oleanna
Film Star Aaron Eckhart is to join Julia Stiles in the new production of Mamet's Oleanna which will open at the Gielgud at the end of April, directed by Lindsay Posner.

Suddenly Last Summer in the West End This Spring
Michael Grandage's revival of Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer, currently playing at the Lyceum, Sheffield, will transfer to the Albery on 14th May, after a national tour. The production stars Diana Rigg and Victoria Hamilton.

McCutcheon for Guys and Dolls Film?
According to the Daily Mail, Martine McCutcheon is being considered for a part in the Miramax film version of Guys and Dolls currently being planned. McCutcheon, who won an Olivier for her performance in the National Theatre revival of the show (although she actually appeared onstage less than her understudy) is believed to be in competition with Nicole Kidman for the part of Sarah, although the actual part, whether Sarah or Miss Adelaide, has not been confirmed.

Jerry Hall Breaks Theatre Record
Former model turned actress, Jerry Hall has made her way into the Guinness Book of Records by appearing in six West End shows (to an audience of 9,214) in one night. She appeared in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Fame, Blood Brothers, Anything Goes and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, travelling between the theatres on a motorbike. The stunt was to promote One Amazing Week, a week-long initiative by London mayor Ken Livingstone to promote London as a tourist destination.

Al Fayed Satire Opens This Week
All I Want Is a British Passport, a satire on businessman Mohammed Al Fayed, opens at the Soho Theatre on 1st March. Written and performed by Nadim Sawalha, the show looks at Al Fayed's attemots to become a British citizen, buying up Harrods and Fulham Football Club in the process.
