This will be the 17-year old's professional stage debut, although he did appear in 2002 as a guest in The Play What I Wrote.

The Donmar Warehouse production of John Mortimer's A Voyage Round my Father starring Derek Jacobi, which is due to close on 5th August, will transfer to Wyndham's on 21st September (previews from 14th).

Star Trek Star Joins Moon
Colm Meaney, best known for playing engineer Miles O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation, will join Eve Best and Kevin Spacey in A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Old Vic from 26th September (previews from 15th) to 23rd December.

Meaney's last appearance on the London stage was at the Donmar in 1999 when he appeared in Juno and the Paycock.

Kristin Scott Thomas and Mackenzie Crook are to star in Chekhov's The Seagull at the Royal Court, according to Variety. The production, an adaptation by Christopher Hampton which will be directed by Ian Rickson, will open in January.

Coward Show for Stritch?
Also according to Variety, a new compilation show based on the work of Noël Coward and starring Elain Stritch is planned for the West End later this year, possibly December, prior to a Boradway transfer. It will be produced by Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group.

And Lange in Chekhov?
Another story in Variety suggests that Jessica Lange will return to the London stage in a new production of The Cherry Orchard in the autumn, again prior to a Briadway transfer. The director will be John Doyle, the paper says.

Arts to Reopen
London's Arts Theatre in Great Newport Street, which closed on 16th July past year (see our story) is to reopen under new management and with a wider entertainment programme. The new owners the Consolidated Property Corporation have now let it on a five-year lease to Jack in the Box Theatres.

Wood Leaves Polka
Annie Wood has resigned as artistic director for the Polka Children's Theatre to join her husband, Henry Ian Cusick, in Hawaii where he is working on the TV series Lost.

"I feel very privileged to have had the chance to serve Polka," she said in a statment, "and feel immensely proud of what we have achieved in the past four years. I am especially proud of the co-productions and collaborations that Polka has embarked on under my leadership. We have opened the doors to some of the best artists and companies in the country.

"In addition, over the last few years Polka has extended its age range by developing work for under fives and for teenagers. We have also pushed the boundaries of young people’s work by committing to new writing and devised work, as well as creating the most exciting and successful new writing programme for children in the country, Playgrounding."
