Othello from Cheek By Jowl
Cheek By Jowl is to tour a production of Othello, their first Shakespeare for five years, around Europe, the UK and the US next year. Directed by Declan Donnellan, it will open in Lille on 13th March and will tour Europe and the UK throughout the summer, moving to the US in October.

Hodge to Direct Pinter
Actor Douglas Hodge makes his debut as a director with a production of Pinter's The Dumb Waiter at the Oxford Playhouse from 12th to 28th February, after which a regional tour and a West End transfer are planned. The production will star Jason Watkins and Toby Jones.

Christmas at the Savoy
Anthony Head will star in Peter Pan at the Savoy Theatre from 17th December (previews from 15th), and in The Pirates of Penzance which joins Peter Pan in repertory on 6th January. The season will run until 20th March. Head will play Captain Hook and the Pirate King and will be joined by Kathryn Evans as Mrs Darling and Ruth. The two shows are a joint production by the Savoy and Raymond Gubbay.

RSC London Transfer Dates
The dates of the London transfer of two productions from this year's RSC season have been announced. The Taming of the Shrew will open on 15th January (preview 14th) and The Tamer Tamed on 22nd. The two productions, both directed by Gregory Doran, will run in repertoire at the Queen's until 6th March, with six performances of Shrew and two of Tamer each week. The full Stratford cast, led by Jasper Britton and Alexandra Gilbreath, will transfer.

Bale and Caine in Batman
Christian Bale is to play Batman and Michael Caine his butler Alfred in a new Batman film, due to be released in 2005.

Dick Barton Faces an Excess of Evil
The Croydon Warehouse is to produce another of its musical Dick Barton stories this Christmas. Episode 5, entitled The Excess of Evil, opens on 13th December (preview on 12th) and runs to 15th February.

Harry Will Meet Sally On Stage
A stage version of the film When Harry Met Sally will open at the Haymarket on 20th february (previes from 10th), with an initial booking period running until 29th May. The part of Harry (played by Billy Chrystal in the film) will be played by Luje Perry of Beverly Hills 90210.

Extending
The following have announced new booking periods:

  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to 25th September. The show will start Sunday performaces on 21st March
  • A Woman of No Importance to 31st January
  • Blood Brothers to 4th September
  • Tell me on a Sunday to 14th February
