Dance World Premiere at Arc Recognized as one of the finest exponents of African Peoples' Dance working in the UK, Bode returns to Britain following an eighteen month sabbatical in America. Bode has developed a growing momentum of support for his work in the USA, including Jamie Lee Curtis and Oprah Winfrey, and he now returns home to create his first full-length work for Sakoba Dance Theatre. Beyond the Word at the Actors Centre The words we speak are only a tiny part of our performance. 90% of the impact we make on an audience has nothing to do with what we say. This workshop will explore all the elements that make what we do so watchable and involving. Through games, exercises and improvisation we will explore focus, physicality, confidence, energy and body language and how these are vital in creating dynamic powerful performance. A vastly experienced actress, Polly is also a specialist teacher in performance and communication techniques in theatre, media and industry. Her stage credits include Northern Broadsides Richard III and Merry Wives, Blood Wedding at the Young Vic, Lady Macbeth at the Riverside and the Royal Exchange production of Road, for which she won a Best Actress award. On TV she has been in many series and sitcoms and is remembered especially for her performance as Gracie Fields in Alan Platers Pride of our Alley. The cost is £36. For further information, phone the Actors Centre on 0191 221 0158. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
