98% for Customs House Panto
Sleeping Beauty,
the pantomime at South Shields' Customs House, which closed on 4th January,
played to 21,7612 people in 56 performances, a total of 98% of capacity.
Before the run finished, over 3,000 tickets were sold for next year's
pantomime, Dick Whittington.
And the Gala Does 65%
Meanwhile the first pantomime at Durham's Gala Theatre, Cinderella,
played to 65% capacity audiences, a very pleasing figure for the theatre's
first venture into panto, according to Press Officer Ed Tutty.
New Additions to the Empire's Programme
The Sunderland Empire has added two new shows to its previously announced
spring programme. Patsy Palmer will star in the touring version of Tell
Me on a Sunday from 8th to 13th March and the theatre will then
play host to Puppetry of the Penis for one night only on Monday
15th March.
The theatre will close until late November of Saturday 10th April for
a major refurbishment of the stage and backstage areas, which will enable
it to take the major touring musicals. It will be the only theatre between
Leeds and Edinburgh to be able to do so.
