The Globe comes to BerwickOn 13th August theGlobe's touring production of The Comedy Of Errors will open in the shadow of Berwicks Elizabethan ramparts and run for three nights in the beautiful setting of The Rose Garden.
The show is presented by The Maltings Theatre, who have worked hard to get the Globe to stop off in Berwick on their national tour.
"This is a major coup for Berwick, and we are very proud to be presenting a company known internationally for their superb interpretations of Shakespeare," said Dr Miles Gregory, chief executive at Berwicks Maltings theatre, who prior to taking up his appointment in Berwick was a regional producer for the Globe. "We made a public commitment last year to bringing the Globe to Berwick, and were very excited that they have chosen to bring The Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeares best-loved comedies."
This is the first time in recent memory that a professional open-air Shakespeare production has played near the ramparts, and the spectacular town walls make a memorable and beautiful setting. Perform, ances are on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th August at 7.30pm and on Sunday 1th at 4pm. Tickets are priced at £12 & £10 concessions until 1st August, then £13/£11 thereafter plus 18s and under can get two tickets for the price of one by signing up for free for a Maltings Youth Card.
