Dateline: 13th February, 2005 News from the North West
Coliseum talent contest winnerOldham Coliseum's talent competition, scheduled to tie in with their production of Wake Up Little Suzie, was won by new singer-songwriter Catherine Cooke from Hollingwood. Catherine, who is self-taught and has been writing songs all her life, only started to play the guitar a year ago. The competition was judged by Sarah Mills from the Revolution Radio Breakfast Show and staff of the theatre.
IntervalsAlso at the Coliseum, the theatre's history is being celebrated in a show called Intervals, consisting of sketches penned by the theatre's over-fifties club Full Circle under the guidance of playwright Neil Duffield. The show will be performed by members of Full Circle and students from Oldham College, and will be produced by five members of the theatre's trainee scheme. Diana musical premiers in ManchesterDiana The Princess, a show about the life of the late Princess of Wales created by the former Artistic Director of the English National Ballet Peter Schaufuss, is to premier at the Palace Theatre in Manchester in March before transferring to the West End in May. Described as 'part musical, part dance and 100% celebration of the life of Her late Royal Highness', it features music from such diverse artists as The Cure and Sir Edward Elgar.

It is also seeking an acting Artistic Director to cover for AD John McGrath while he is taking up the opportunities offered by Nesta's Cultural Leadership Award.
