The Lowry, Salford Quays

Lowry given Heritage Lottery Fund award

The Lowry in Salford has been awarded a £40,400 grant to develop its plans for a local heritage project for the centre's tenth birthday that will explore the history of the Salford Quays site on which it was built.

It is currently planned that the project, titled Unlocking Salford Quays, will involve local people in exploring the history, people and past industries of the area using the arts and will include the building of a 'trail' around the area and inside The Lowry itself.

The funding award at present is only for the development of the plans, and the centre will be applying for a further grant of £472,700 at some point in the future in order to put the plans into action.
