Dateline: 8th October, 2003 Notes from New York Shona Lindsay, Paul Spicer, Julie Atherton and Damien Edwards take to the stage of the Arts Theatre on Sunday 2nd November to star in Notes from New York, a celebration of contemporary US musical theatre, featuring the work of the Tony Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown and the Grammy nominated Andrew Lippa. Notes from New York will comprise songs from the shows of Jason Robert Brown (Songs for a New World, Parade and The Last Five Years) and Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party and John & Jen), including a number of UK and European premières, as well as a preview of material from Andrew Lippa's new musical A Little Princess, which will receive its world première on Broadway next year. Jason Robert Brown's first musical Songs for a New World originally opened Off-Broadway in 1995 (and received its UK première at the Bridewell Theatre in August 2001), following which he made his Broadway debut in 1999 with Parade, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Original Score of a Musical. His most recent musical The Last Five Years premièred in New York last year. Andrew Lippa's first musical John & Jen was also produced Off-Broadway in 1995. His most recent, The Wild Party, premièred at the Manhattan Theater Club in New York in 2000, where it was nominated for 13 Drama Desk Awards, including Best New Musical. Andrew contributed three brand new songs to the Broadway revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and recently composed a song for the hit film Legally Blonde 2.
