Autumn at the Royal Court New British writing is the central feature of the Royal Court's autumn season. Already announced is Enron by Lucy Prebble, which comes to Sloane Square after premiering at Chichester. The production runs from 17th September to 7th November in the Theatre Downstairs and is directed by Rupert Goold, whose Headlong Thetare is co-producer. The cast includes Peter Caulfield, Amanda Drew, Tom Godwin, Tom Goodman-Hill, Orion Lee, Eleanor Matsuura, Tim Pigott-Smith and Samuel West. Then from the 19th November to 9th January, also in the Thetare Downstairs, Jeremy Herrin directs The Priory by Michael Wynne, which "takes a microscope to modern dilemmas about life, love and retro board games". The Theatre Upstairs season opens with Tim Crouchs The Author, which is directed by Karl James & a smith and features Tim Crouch, Adrian Howells, Vic Llewellyn and Esther Smith. Running from 23rd September to 24th October, The Author is "a story of hope, violence and exploitation" and concerns "about the abuse carried out in the name of the spectator". It contains material, we are told, that "may be disturbing". The second production Upstairs is Mike Bartlett's Cock, which runs from 13th November to 19th December. The play, we are told, "takes a playful, candid look at one mans sexuality and the difficulties that arise when you realise you have a choice". No cast or creative team have yet been announced. "This season sees the Royal Court doing exactly what we are here to do, producing provocative new plays by exciting young writers, asking essential questions about the world we live in, celebrating its joys and exploring its contradictions," Dominic Cooke said." In troubled times, the need to come together and share our experiences becomes stronger than ever, which is why it is so thrilling to see four of Britains most exciting writers engage with the world, personally and politically." The thetare has also announced that Associate Director Jeremy Herrin has been appointed Deputy Artistic Director.
