Royal Court Celebrates Horror and Anger Two new events have been announced in the Royal Court's fiftieth anniversary celebrations On 3rd May theatre and the Rocky Horror Company will present a tribute performance of The Rocky Horror Show, which opened at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs 33 years ago and, in a recent poll conducted by the theatre, was voted to be the most enjoyed piece of theatre that has been presented there over the past 50 years.
This will be a charity performance celebrating the Royal Court's history with The Rocky Horror Show featuring original cast members and special guest performers.
Proceeds of the evening will be donated to Amnesty International and the Royal Court Theatre. On 8th May there will be a special tribute to Look Back in Anger. On 8th May 1956 the curtain rose on the first performance of the play that was to be central to the success of George Devine's vision for the Royal Court. Fifty years later to the day, the Royal Court will present an evening in tribute to both the play and the playwright, directed by Ian Rickson.
The evening also celebrates the People's Choice vote where Look Back In Anger was voted the second most popular Royal Court play from the last fifty years. This event is on sale to Friends of the Royal Court. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
