Rough Cuts at the Court

From 2nd to 14th July the Royal Court presents Rough Cuts, a new season of diverse and experimental work-in-progress, presented informally in the Theatre Upstairs. It is a sneak preview of what some of the Royal Court's writers are working on, as well as the chance to witness exciting one-off collaborations, and brand new works-in-progress.

A rehearsed reading of an new play by debbie tucker green, directed by Sacha Wares and performed by Nadine Marshall. Recent productions by debbie tucker green and Sacha Wares include generations (Young Vic) and trade (RSC/Soho).

Airbag
A collaboration between playwright Leo Butler and Nigerian choreographer Anthony Odey. Airbag takes an uncompromising look at death and the dying.
A Liability
Simon Swarsbrick is becoming a pain in the arse. Fact is, he can't stop telling the truth. Developed by Sean Foley, directed by Terry Johnson.

Exactly how far does old money get you these days? Playwright Laura Wade and director Lyndsey Turner explore the lives of the young, wealthy and privileged. Are the high-jinks of the tailcoated Bullingdon boys the last gasp of a dying breed?
The Girlfriend Experience
This piece by Alecky Blythe, directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, sheds an unexpected light on prostitution, uncovering a niche market of older independent women not in the grip of drugs or pimps. This edit of their extraordinary stories is told entirely in their own words, recorded inside the brothel.

Brazilian director, Antonio Araujo collaborates with British playwright April de Angelis to explore the untold stories and secret lives of London's Brazilian community.
Emergency
Writer/director Clint Dyer investigates the fire service as part of a journey towards a play that will explore some of the myths surrounding black identities, and ask what it means to be a hero.

Tickets for all Rough Cut events are £7.50.
