Ryan J-W Smith

"The New Bard" on CD

Ryan J-W Smith, the playwright whose verse plays have been described as "Shakespeare for a modern audience", has just agreed a distribution deal with Universal for his debut album becoming, which he recorded last year. The new album can be heard on Smith's website www.ryanjwsmith.com and will be available to buy worldwide from early August. Alongside Smith's music, Universal are also keen to distribute his plays as digital spoken-word texts. Smith's second verse play, The Power Play, is slated for recording in September.

His new play Love Labours Won - a Buddhist-inspired comedy about having faith in life - will be premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe from 2nd to 28th August the Gilded Balloon Teviot.

After debuting at the Fringe, Love Labours Won transfers directly to the Vanbrugh Theatre in London's West End where it will double-bill with his second verse play The Power Play from 4th to 23rd September. In late Autumn it will be produced Off-Broadway. His first verse play, Sweet Love Adieu, will then open on New York's 42nd Street.
