Nicholas Hytner

2009 at the National

Nicholas Hytner, director of the National Theatre, has announced some of its productions for next year. They are:

  • A new play by Richard Bean, England People Very Nice, directed by Nicholas Hytner
  • Death and the King’s Horseman by Wole Soyinka, directed by Rufus Norris
  • Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well, directed by Marianne Elliott
  • Buchner’s Danton’s Death, directed by Michael Grandage
  • Brecht’s Mother Courage, with Fiona Shaw in the title role, directed by Deborah Warner.
  • Racine’s Phèdre, directed by Nicholas Hytner in the Lyttelton Theatre, starrng Helen Mirren
  • Time and the Conways by JB Priestley, directed by Rupert Goold (Lyttelton)
  • Dido, Queen of Carthage by Christopher Marlowe, James Macdonald (Cottesloe)

The Travelex £10 scheme will continue for a seventh year in the Olivier.
