National Plans Dark Materials Successor In an exclusive interview with the BTG's Philip Fisher, Director Nicholas Hytner has revealed that the National Theatre is to produce a stage version of Jamila Gavin's children's novel Coram Boy. Set in the eighteenth century, the Whitbread Award-winning novel traces the lives of Aaron and Toby, two "Coram Boys" - children rescued by the hospital for abandoned children set up by Captain Thomas Coram in 1741 - along with Meshak, the "simpleton" son of a thoroughgoing villain, and Alexander Ashbrook, the son of a wealthy Gloucestershire landowner. No further details of the production are yet available. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
