Travelex Extends NT Sponsorship

Travelex, the foreign exchange and business payments specialist, announces a new partnership with the National Theatre as supporters of NT Live in cinemas abroad.

The pilot season of this new initiative by the National Theatre to broadcast live performances of plays onto cinema screens in the UK and worldwide launches on 25th June with Nicholas Hytner's production of Phèdre with Helen Mirren, Dominic Cooper and Margaret Tyzack. It will be followed on 1st October by All's Well That Ends Well with Clare Higgins and, in early 2010, by Nation, based on a novel by Terry Pratchett, adapted by Mark Ravenhill, and Alan Bennett's new play The Habit of Art with Michael Gambon, Alex Jennings and Frances de la Tour.

Travelex will support NT Live screenings in 170 cinemas abroad, including venues in the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Scandinavia and Europe.

Travelex's support of the NT began in May 2003 with the first £10 Season. This year the NT will sell its 1,000,000th £10 ticket. Travelex's sponsorship of the £10 Season will continue until the conclusion of the current season in November 2009. Next year's £10 Season will begin in April 2010.

Lloyd Dorfman, Chairman of Travelex, said, "I am delighted that our partnership with the NT is evolving with this exciting international initiative. As a business it's important that our marketing activity reflects our position as a global brand. We have been immensely proud of the £10 Season over the past seven years; the time is right, as we continue to grow our global business, to keep the offer fresh and enhance our relationship with the National as NT Live extends its international footprint."
