Dateline: 19th April, 2007
The deal between the National Theatre and Broadway producers Boyett Ostar Productions (Bob Boyett and Bill Haber) to present NT productions in the US has been renewed. The deal was first set up in 2003 for three years and now it has been extended to summer 2008, with the option to extend annually thereafter. It gives Boyett Ostar the option for first look transfer rights for all National Thetare productions and has led to a number of NT successes going to New York: Jumpers, Democracy, The Pillowman, The History Boys and, currently in preview, Coram Boy. This autumn they will transfer The Seafarer. For this they pay the theatre $450,000 a year. "Im thrilled that Boyett and Haber are continuing to support the National," Nicholas Hytner said this week. "Theyve shown extraordinary commitment in taking a wide variety of plays from the NT repertoire to American audiences. Thanks to their enthusiasm, our work has never had a higher profile in the United States. Its the best of relationships - one that just keeps getting better." This season on Broadway, Boyett Ostar has a hand in Journey's End and the upcoming LoveMusik. The producers also are involved in next year's transfer of the London revival of the Menier's production of Sunday in the Park With George. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
