Script Factory at Bath

The Ustinov Studio at the Theatre Royal, Bath, is launching Script Factory, a series of rehearsed readings which will showcase works-in-progress by some of the country's leading emerging playwrights.

The first of these lunchtime events took place this week, with David Watson's Fireworks Party.

A rehearsed reading is hugely helpful for a playwright; a valuable chance to gauge audience reactions to the highs and lows of the text. For the audience it's a fascinating peek into the rehearsal process and it has a relaxed appeal. With the Ustinov happy for you to take your lunch into the auditorium, and with the running time a maximum of 90 minutes, it's also a great way to spend your lunch break.

Next month, on Wednesday 2nd April, the Ustinov showcases a rehearsed reading of award winning novelist Maria Robert's new play, Stranger Love, directed by Ustinov Artistic Director, Andrew Smaje. Then, on the first Wednesday in May, Lee Lydford directs Ionna Anderson's Words of Advice For Young People.
