Darrell D’Silva as Mark Antony oin the 2009 production of Julius Caesar

RSC Postpones Press Night

The Royal Shakespeare Company has postponed the press night for Antony and Cleopatra from 20th April to 10th and 11th May because Darrell D’Silva, who plays Antony, suffered a “serious injury to his hand from the mechanism of a prop firearm” during technical rehearsals.

The injury required surgery and he has now returned to the show, which is currently previewing, but his hand is bandaged and his arm in a sling so that much of the production has had to be restaged to accomodate this.

"Whave lost a great deal of rehearsal time," said Michael Boyd, "so I have taken the decision to postpone our scheduled press night.

"Obviously it’s not a decision to be taken lightly, but I would like to give the company the chance to showcase the production to critics when Darrell has had a little more recovery time. Our preview audiences have been very supportive and I’d like to thank them for this."
