RSC Spring Season, 2002

The Royal Shakespeare Company's late spring/early summer season, which runs from 28th March, takes a new pattern in 2002 with three distinct repertory companies in operation, one at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, one at the Swan (also Stratford) and - in a surprising new development - at the Roundhouse in London's Chalk Farm.

The London plays will all be promenade productions:

  • The Winter's Tale (directed by Matthew Warchus) opens on 28th March
  • The Tempest (dir. Michael Boyd) opens on 19th April
  • Pericles (dir. Adrian Noble) opens on 28th June

RST, Stratford, productions are:

  • Antony and Cleopatra (dir. Michael Attenborough) opens on 11th April
  • Much Ado About Nothing (dir. Gregory Doran) opens on 1st May

Swan Theatre, Stratford:

  • Edward III (dir. Edward Hall) opens on 17th April
  • Eastward Ho! by George Chapman, Ben Jonson and John Marston (dir. Lucy Pitman-Wallace) opens on 24th April
  • The Roman Actor by Philip Massinger (dir. David Hunt) opens on 5th June
  • The Island Princess by John Fletcher (dir. Gregory Doran) opens on 12th July
  • The Malcontent by John Webster and John Marston (dir. Dominic Cook) opens on 14th August
