RSC Spring Season, 2002
The Royal Shakespeare Company's late spring/early summer season, which
runs from 28th March, takes a new pattern in 2002 with three distinct
repertory companies in operation, one at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre
in Stratford, one at the Swan (also Stratford) and - in a surprising
new development - at the Roundhouse in London's Chalk Farm.
The London plays will all be promenade productions:
- The Winter's Tale (directed by Matthew Warchus) opens on
28th March
- The Tempest (dir. Michael Boyd) opens on 19th April
- Pericles (dir. Adrian Noble) opens on 28th June
RST, Stratford, productions are:
- Antony and Cleopatra (dir. Michael Attenborough) opens on
11th April
- Much Ado About Nothing (dir. Gregory Doran) opens on 1st
May
Swan Theatre, Stratford:
- Edward III (dir. Edward Hall) opens on 17th April
- Eastward Ho! by George Chapman, Ben Jonson and John Marston
(dir. Lucy Pitman-Wallace) opens on 24th April
- The Roman Actor by Philip Massinger (dir. David Hunt) opens
on 5th June
- The Island Princess by John Fletcher (dir. Gregory Doran)
opens on 12th July
- The Malcontent by John Webster and John Marston (dir. Dominic Cook)
opens on 14th August
