SAC Announces Grants of £16m

Over 130 organisations applied for awards to present a body of creative work of high quality, the majority of which will be developed or produced in Scotland. Awards of between £50,000 and £300,000 were given.

A total of £22 million was requested by 89 applying organisations following an initial assessment – the total flexible budget available was £16 million. Morag Arnot, Acting Chief Executive, Scottish Arts Council said, "Every organisation which applied for a flexible award presented an ambitious creative vision for Scotland. The 60 successful organisations are leaders in the development and presentation of excellent work, and collectively will draw in audiences across Scotland.

"The freedom to push creative boundaries, develop new collaborations or respond to the demands and challenges of audiences requires the confidence that a period of stability offers. Our aim is that these flexible awards encourage and support a further bloom of creative growth amongst Scotland’s artistic communities."
