Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory Update

Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory is on course to avert the closure threat which followed poor sales for the recent production of Titus Andronicus. (See our story of 28th March)

The campaign to find £30,000 to keep the critically-acclaimed company afloat is going "really well", according to a spokesman.

Sophie Jerrold said SATTF had been overwhelmed by the "heartfelt letters" it had received urging the company not to close. But she said the company still needed more money to see SATTF safely into season eight, in 2007.

SATTF are asking 1,000 people to each donate £25 by visiting www.sattf.org.uk, or sending a cheque, made payable to SATTF, to Sophie Jerrold, SATTF, Tobacco Factory, Raleigh Road, Bristol BS3 1TF.

SATTF are also holding a fundraising event, Shakespeare's Summer Celebration, at the Tobacco Factory on Saturday, July 1. The event will include a fashion show, music, magic and a charity auction. Tickets, priced £25, are available by telephoning 0117 902 0344.
