Santa Monica Comes to Warwick

This year sees the 25th exchange between the Santa Monica Playhouse American Cultural Youth Ambassadors and the Playbox Theatre, Warwick. The California group are bringing two productions to the UK in July, Next! Living the Lie and Songs of Love and Laughter.

Next! explores the audition process, not only as it relates to the industry but also as it insinuates itself into every corner of our lives, from the school room to the living room to the community room, informing our hopes, dreams, and aspirations, most poignantly in the yet untarnished lives of our children. How do we cast our young people when they are not in front of the camera? What stereotypical labels do we assign them? What demands do these roles place on their lives? And what is the toll taken on their innocence, their idealism, and sometimes their very souls?

Next! plays at Warwick's Dream Factory on 12th and 13th July (7.30).

Songs, described as "a loving musical journey down memory lane, featuring favorite Santa Monica Playhouse tunes from a forty-four year catalogue of romantic melodies and humorous delights", play for one night only, on Sunday 10th July, also at 7.30.

Seats can be booked by phoning 01926 419 555.
