STAR Responds to the Touts

Going to an entertainment event can be a miserable experience for customers who buy tickets from an unauthorised source, with seats not what they seemed, impeded views and sometimes even no tickets at all. On the other hand, customers who genuinely have spare tickets need a fair way of disposing of them; so will new arrivals such as Viagogo or Seatwave really benefit both industry and customers - or just the touts?

On Friday 24 November, STAR (the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers) presents Entertainment Ticketing at the Crossroads, a one-day seminar at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London. The event will take a detailed look at the implications of new standard terms and conditions for ticket selling, drafted by STAR in consultation with the Office of Fair Trading, and open up the debate on secondary ticketing to help the industry respond to the problems and possible solutions on offer.

Keynote speaker at the seminar will be Andrew Cunningham, Deputy Director for Industry at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport; also taking part will be leading promoters and ticketing experts.
