Graphic listing of the spring shows

Spring at Sadler's Wells

The Spring 2008 Seasonat Sadler's Wells includes one world premiere, eight UK premieres, and two Sadler's Wells productions. Welcoming more international artists spanning countries such as China, Belgium, Cuba, Japan and the UK, the programme continues to embrace a multitude of dance-forms from contemporary dance to tango and hip hop to flamenco. Over 150 tickets are available at just £10 for every main house dance performance in the season.

Pina Bausch makes returns to the theatre in February with a double-bill of two older works; Café Müller and The Rite of Spring. In March the Spring Dance at the London Coliseum season begins. The recently announced partnership between Sadler's Wells, Askonas Holt and Raymond Gubbay enables the presentation of large-scale companies such as New York City Ballet on the London stage. One of the world's largest and foremost dance companies, and not seen in London for 25 years, NYCB presents four programmes of work drawn from its rich and diverse repertoire.

In April, Sadler's Wells' resident company, Random Dance presents Entity, a world premiere by Wayne McGregor, and in May Breakin' Convention celebrates its fifth birthday. May also brings two works by performer and choreographer, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Best known among UK audiences for his part in the multi-disciplinary collaboration zero degrees, Cherkaoui presents an existing piece, Myth followed by the UK premiere of a new collaboration. The first of several contributions to China Now, this Sadler's Wells production sees Cherkaoui working with Turner Prize winner Antony Gormley and Buddhist monks of the Shaolin Temple in the first true collaboration between Western Artists and the Shaolin Temple.

Also featuring as part of China Now, a 400 year old love story comes to Sadler's Wells in June, in the form of an ancient Chinese opera; The Peony Pavilion. Featuring young performers in the lead roles, and over 200 hand-made costumes, the opera combines literature, music, dance and drama.

In July comes a brand new stage version of the world-famous dance musical West Side Story. Ten years after choreographer Jerome Robbins' death, 2008 also marks the 50th anniversary of the original show's sensational London debut.
