Dateline: 24th June, 2004
Bourne Swan Lake Returns to London After scheduling problems led to its summer run at Sadler's Wells having to be cancelled, Matthew Bourne's famous all-male Swan Lake will return to the venue for the Christmas season, from 30th November to 16th January, 2005. It was first produced at Sadler's Wells almost ten years ago, opening there in 1995, so this will be the tenth anniversary prioduction. It became the longest-running ballet ever, both in the West End and on Broadway, and it won many awards. In the West End it won a South Bank Show Award and an Olivier for Best New Dance Production, and on Broadway it garnered three Tonys: Best Director in a Musical and Best Chroegrapher (for Matthew Bourne) and Best Costume Design (for Lez Brotherston). From 22nd December to 25th January, 2005, the Royal ballet will be performing their version of Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
