TAG Celebrates

Glasgow's TAG Theatre Company will be celebrating the launch of their new touring production this weekend as The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter opens at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow. It will be celebrations all round as the company have learnt that Stewart Porter, who plays Goldberg, Pinter’s loquacious inquisitor, has been nominated as Best Actor in the TMA Theatre Awards 2003.

This nomination is for his performance in The Fever at the Citizens’ Theatre last year, where he was directed by Guy Hollands, who also happens to be TAG’s guest director for The Birthday Party. Stewart from Dundee, will be up against Timothy West for his performance in King Lear with the English Touring Theatre and Richard Dormer for his part in Hurriciane, with Ransom Productions.

In addition to Stewart and Guy’s celebrations, TAG’s designer for The Birthday Party, Neil Warmington, will also be celebrating the news that Prime Productions’ version of Sunset Song is up for The Opus Award for Best Touring Production. As designer, Neil was responsible for set and costumes for this show.
