Achievement in Opera
Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne;
Scottish Opera for a courageous season;
the partnership of Vladimir Jurowski and Richard Jones for Welsh National
Operas Wozzeck.
Achievement in Dance
Birmingham Royal Ballet for a stimulating range of programming throughout
the year, particularly on its split tours;
Mark Baldwin for the creation of Constant Speed and the high
calibre of his artistic directorship of Rambert Dance Company;
Matthew Bourne for his touring work and the impact it has had on public
expectations of dance nationwide.
The winners will be announced on Sunday 23rd October at the Royal Opera
Houses Linbury Theatre in a ceremony hosted by Nichola McAuliffe.
The TMA Awards are for theatre outside of the West End (although many
of the productions may well have a West End run). The panel of 150 judges
from all over the UK (all volunteers) began their work on 1st September
2004 and concluded on 31st August 2005, seeing over a thouand productions
in that time.
