Summer in Newcastle
The summer/autumn season at Newcastle's Theatre Royal has been announced:
- For one night only the Tommy Cooper tribute Jus' Like That
with Clive Mantle will arrive on 23rd May
- Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather will run from 11th to15th
May
- From 22nd to 26th June Opera North returns with Donizetti's Maria
Stuarda, Dvorak's Rusalka and Puccini's La Bohème
- Kenneth William extravaganza Stop Messing About runs from
27th to 29th May
- From 1st to 3rd July Circus Hilarious (Clive Webb and Danny Adams)
will Keep Britain Laughing
- Victoria Wood's Dinnerladies will be at the theatre from
5th to 10 July
- Rock Around the Clock swings in from 12th to 17th July
- On 18th July the Friends of the Theatre Royal are organising North
East Meets West End, a special fund-raising show hosted by patron
Richard Briers
- Childrens' show The Gruffalo will run from 15th to 17th July
- Finally on the road, the touring production of Spamalot runs
from 19th to 24th July
- The new touring production of Chess will have its premiere
at the theatre from 27th August to 11th September
- From 28th September to 16th October the Royal Shakespeare Company
brings Romeo and Juliet, King
Lear, Antony & Cleopatra and a young-people's version
of Hamlet
- Street dance show Blaze comes to Newcastle from 18th to 20th
October
- On 22nd and 23rd October the Royal hosts Alvin Ailey American Dance
Theatre
- Lucy Prebble's Enron
(Chichester, Royal Court, West End and Broadway) will run from 2nd
to 6th November
- The National Theatre production of Alan Bennett's The
Habit of Art will be at the theatre from 16th to 20th November
Philip Bernays, Chief Executive of the Theatre Royal said, "I'm
delighted to launch our new Summer / Autumn programme - as we will be
closed for our anniversary restoration this time next year we wanted
to make sure that we gave our audiences something even more special
than normal to compensate."
