Another Spanish Classic Tours! While the RSC is presenting three plays from the Spanish Golden Age at London's Playhouse Theatre, a very different company - Théâtre Sans Frontières - is touring another classic from Spain, El Sombrero de Tres Picos. El Sombrero de Tres Picos was Théâtre Sans Frontières' first major tour in Spanish, playing to 16 theatres nationwide in the Spring of 2002. It was such a success, with audiences and reviewers alike, that TSF is giving everyone another chance to see this popular production. The show opened at the Queen's Hall, Hexham on Wednesday 26th January at 7.30pm and is now touring nationally until Saturday 12th March. It is a rollicking farce based on Pedro de Alarcón's nineteenth century novel, which later provided the inspiration for Manuel de Falla's ballet, The Three Cornered Hat. The local magistrate, El Corregidor is on the prowl and has his sights firmly set on the beautiful Miller's wife, Frasquita. Will she succumb to his lustful advances? Or can Lucas, her husband, trust her to be faithful? Wives and clothing are swapped with abandon while two sage old donkeys cast a wry eye over each comic turn of events. TSF gathers a comic crew of Spanish-speaking actors to create colourful situations and larger than life characters, whilst fast paced action keeps the audience enthralled throughout. The show is directed by John Cobb, adapted for the stage by Sarah Kemp, with design by Jane Heather and live and recorded music by Iain Johnstone. El Sombrero de Tres Picos will be performed in Spanish, in the company's physical, visual style, by an international cast of actors from Spain, Tenerife, Italy, England and Argentina. Director John Cobb says of the show, "This is a pure gem of a story, full of lively characters and funny situations. It's a real find." El Sombrero de Tres Picos is suitable for those aged 15 and upwards. Théâtre Sans Frontières produces and tours plays by world authors in their original language. The style is physical, visual and accessible to all. Théâtre Sans Frontières creates a rich and diverse theatre which explores and celebrates cultural exchange. The show tours to Stirling, Kirkcaldy, Paisley, Brighton, Bristol, Bath, Cambridge, Darlington, Huddersfield, Crawley, Sevenoaks, Oxford and Jackson's Lane, London. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
