Dateline: 19th December, 2006 Spice Drum Beat Author Murdered Taliep Petersen, the co-author of Spice Drum Beat: Ghoema which is currently playing at Kilburn's Tricycle Theatre, has been murdered during a robbery at his home in Athlone, Cape Town, South Africa. According to reports he was shot in the head. A talented musicians, he was also co-author with David Kramer of the 1999 Olivier Best New Musical award, Kat and the Kings, which later transferred to Broadway.
