Theatre in Wales Awards 2005

The winners of the annual Theatre in Wales Awards, organised by the Theatre in Wales website, have been announced. The awards are voted for by vuisitors to the site. The winners are:

Best English language production
ImMortal (No Fit State Circus)

Best Welsh language production
Shinani’n Siarad (Rhosus Cochion)

Best dance or performance piece
The House Project – RIPE / Marc Rees

Best male actor
Marc Rees in Shed*Light

Best female actor
Nia Gwynne in Ghost City

Best new writing
Ghost City, written by Gary Owen and produced by Sgript Cymru

In addition to the six main categories there was also a special award, the James Westaway award for the most promising young performer in Wales. The award this year went to Lisa Zahra for her performance as Imogen in Wales Theatre Company's production of Cymbeline.
