Variety Club Awards 2008 At the 56th annual Variety Club Awards Kenneth Branagh has won the Stage Performance Award for Ivanov (Donmar in the West End season at Wyndham's Theatre) and the Musical Theatre Award went to Hairspray. The Variety Club Film Award went to James McAvoy for his performances in a number of films, including Atonement and The Last King of Scotland. He last appeared on the London stage in Laura Wade's Breathing Corpses at the Royal Court in 2005 and will shortly be appearing in Three Days of Rain at the Apollo, Shaftesbury Avenue (opening 10th February with previews from 30th January). The Variety Club Comedy Award went to (David) Mitchell and (Robert) Webb. Webb made his West End stage debut earlier this year in Neil LaBute's Fat Pig.
